Shweta Menon was born on 23rd April 1974 at Chandigarh. Acting is the first step in her career, then She became an Indian model and got 3 titles.
Later on, she got television anchor chances. She has, for the most part, acted in Malayalam and Hindi language films, but also she appeared in a number of Tamil productions.
In the early 1990’s, Shweta Menon acting career was started with Malayalam feature films. she had chosen to model for her career along with Acting and also she became one of the benchmarks in that field.
Shweta Menon participated and won at several beauty competitions(1994-1995) which led to her first appearance in Bollywood.
Ishq (1997 film) was Shweta Menon’s first film in Bollywood, where she received remarkable attention as the hot dancer for the song, ‘Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai’ featuring Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan.

Menon’s birthplace is Chandigarh but she was born to a Malayali couple. Shweta Menon’s Father name is Narayan Kutty and mother name is Sarada Menon.
Narayan Kutty served in the Indian Air Force, in a meanwhile her mother Sarada Menon remained as a housewife. Malayali actor ‘Anoop Menon’ is Shweta’s cousin.
She studied in Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, East Hill, Kozhikode which is a CBSE affiliated school having Large campus size accommodating more than 2000 students.
“Kendriya Vidyalaya” established in 1965 and administered by “Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan”, which is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Shweta Menon’s career life as an Actor
We already know that she started her career as an actress in the Malayalam film Anaswaram (1991), directed by Jomon. In this film Anaswaram, she played the main female character which is against Mammootty.
Later she focused on modeling from the year 1992 after completion of her acting in the movie Anaswaram. She later won several competitions before performing in films again.
She again appeared in Malayalam films through Tantra, and later starred in the famous Malayalam films such as ‘Kirti Chakra’ (2006 film) and ‘Paradesi’ which is an Award-winning movie.
Her performance as a middle-class family woman Sarojini who fights against exceptional circumstances in the film ‘Madhya Venal’ has received a distinct identity in the International Film Festival of Kerala by the well-known Iranian director, Jury’s chairman “Bahman Gobadi”. ‘Madhya Venal’ is a 2009 Malayalam film produced by ‘Jahangir Shamz’ under the banner of ‘Xarfnet Movies’ and directed by ‘Madhu Kaithapram’.
She subsequently made her debut in Bollywood and appeared in over 30 films. some of her Bollywood films include Asoka (2001), Maqbool (2003) and Corporate (2006).
Awards won by Shweta Menon in her acting career
Shweta Menon won the Kerala State Government Best Actress Award in 2010, for her outstanding performance in “Paleri Manikyam” movie, the story of “Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinteenth” which is directed by ‘Ranjith’.
In this movie, her role is a village woman. She has also won the Mathrubhumi-Amrita TV Special Jury Award for the film and Asianet Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in the same film.
By the movie “Rathinirvedam” (2011 film), Shweta Menon got star actress status. Basically, Rathinirvedam is a Malayalam film based on the concept of ‘The time when someone matures emotionally’ which is directed by T. K. Rajeev Kumar.
It is a remake of the 1978 film of the same name directed by Bharathan and written by P. Padmarajan based on his own novel Rathinirvedam. The film was produced by Suresh Kumar under the banner of Revathy Kalamandhir. In this movie, Shweta played the nominal character.
In the same year, she got the Kerala State Award for Salt N’ Pepper movie which is a romantic comedy film directed by Aashiq Abu.
For her next movie ‘Naval Enna Jewel‘ which is a 2017 Indian Malayalam-language drama film co-written, co-produced and directed by Renji Lal Damodaran. Shweta Menon has experienced a remarkable new look as an elderly man.
Shweta Menon Modelling Career
She said “I enjoyed much as a model as my contemporaries in the fashion world, Kamal Sidhu, Meher Jessia, Anna Bredmeyer, Madhu Sapre, Shamuli Verma and Noynika Chatterjee were good examples for me from whom I learnt few lessons in modeling, making your presence felt and in overall presentation. By directly or indirectly, they influenced my personality.”
For the first time Shweta competed in the modeling contest named as Miss India Asia Pacific 1994 and successfully finished 3rd runner up behind Susmitha Sen, Aishwarya Rai and Fransesca Hart. She was crowned Gladrags Super Model in the same year – the first ever title, at that time Kelly Dorjeewas the male super model. and then, Miss Asia Pacific semi-finalist and 2nd runner up in 1994 in Manila Cebu Island, Philippines.
Shweta Menon’s Anchoring on Televisions
In addition to acting in films, she has hosted many TV, stage and movie awards programs. Her style and special promotions helped her to become one of Kerala’s most popular TV commentators by a musical program – Star Wars in Kairali TV in 2008. She won Asian Television’s best commentator award for the same event.
In Hindi, she co-starred with actor Harshad Varsi in Razzmatazz, a group dance show on Zee TV. She later appeared in the television show Dancing Queen in 2008. At present, she deals with the Malayalam reality show Honeymoon Travels in Surya TV.
